My name is Pat O’Dea, and I’ve been teaching Irish set dancing for over 30 years. What began as a love for traditional music and movement has grown into a lifelong journey of sharing dance with people of all ages and abilities.
Based in Limerick, I teach both children and adults, helping each dancer find confidence, rhythm, and joy in the steps that have been part of our culture for generations. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in schools, community halls, and now online — connecting people across Ireland and beyond through the shared heartbeat of Irish dance.
In addition to my regular classes, I run movement therapy sessions for people living with Parkinson’s, where set dancing is integrated to support balance, coordination, and overall well-being. These classes have shown me how powerful movement can be — not just for the body, but for the mind and spirit too.
Whether I’m teaching a group of schoolchildren taking their first steps, or adults rediscovering their love of music and motion, my goal is always the same: to make dancing enjoyable, inclusive, and meaningful.
Irish set dancing has brought me lifelong friendships, laughter, and purpose — and I’m grateful to continue sharing that with every class, every tune, and every step.
